Optional Disk Storage for Virtual Systems
Additional storage is available for virtual systems, as long as the amount you want to add is 10GB or more. It is not available for systems or servers outside of the IUII package; therefore virtual system rental is a pre-requisite of this service.
Each base virtual system automatically comes with 35GB of SAN disk storage. Instead of allocating space on drives physically installed in the host server, UITS assigns your system to high speed disk drives within its Hitachi Storage Area Network (SAN). This means that your files and data are spread across network components for greater availability and increased performance.
IUII does not offer a file server, nor does it offer network-attached storage. Your applications or database systems manage what is stored and how it is accessed.
Additional disk space becomes available within five business days of your initial request.

To request additional disk storage, please please submit an email to sav-request@indiana.edu. Include your VM name and amount of additional disk storage requested.
